GLD were part of the event team that transformed a corner of Hertfordshire into a hippy inspired festival. Set in the grounds of Knebworth, Hedgestock was a new two-day networking conference for the hedge fund community. 70,000 square feet at the venue was created into a tented village to house sponsors, exhibitors, meeting areas, restaurants and two stages as well as a playground for the "free-spirited, free-thinking" entrepreneurs of the investment world. It took over 3 weeks and £1.2m to build.
GLD designed the interior and exterior of 7 of the leading sponsor marquees: building on their corporate images, GLD gave Merrill Lynch's marquee a cowprint monochrome makeover, UBS went Swiss alpine whilst Barclays Capital's cloud logo inspired their blue sky decor. Lehman Bros's tent took on a summer look transforming into an English garden show, Deutsche Bank went retro cubist complete with '60s Harley Davidson and Bear Stearns embraced the hippy theme going totally tie-dye inside. GLD even gave American fund, Crestline Investors a Texan Saloon including wooden swing doors, rustic bar and cow horn signs.
GLD also supplied the entire site with furniture along with over 70 individual exhibitors within the tented village. They took over a 60x30 metre marquee onsite as temporary warehouse space in the run up to the event, distributing over 600 bistro tables and corresponding chairs, 700 festival chairs, 150 sets of garden furniture, 70 sofas plus lava lamps, bean bags and wind chimes amongst other items to tents and cabins across the site and backstage.
