The end of 2007 heralded a year of major growth and expansion for GLD. Investment in a new range of hospitality and site furniture along with the acquisition of larger premises and scaled-up operational team has supported the company’s shift of business into the corporate hospitality market with high profiles events including the major golf championships at St Andrews and Wentworth, the UK leg of the Red Bull Air Race, the Concert for Diana and the Live Earth climate concert.
2007 also saw the team involved in the launch of Eurostar at the £800m refurbished St Pancras International by HM Queen and the Naming Ceremony of Britain’s newest luxury liner, Queen Victoria by the Duchess of Cornwall.
GLD continue to provide furniture solutions to major multi-artist concerts, tours and festivals – this year saw them working with Prince, The Police, Kylie, George Michael, Take That, The Who, Genesis, Muse, Beyonce, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Areosmith, Artic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Joss Stone, Bryan Ferry, Sugarbabes, Razorlight, Ozzy Osbourne, Arcade Fire and Barbara Streisand as well as supply furniture for MTV Europe Awards, Concert For Diana, Live Earth, Teenage Cancer Trust benefit gigs, Give It A Name, Radio 1 Big Weekend Preston, Download, Wireless, Reading & Leeds, Creamfields, Latitude, Knowsley Hall and Cornbury.
