The green courses of Perthshire and Wentworth were the setting for the 2007 Dunhill Links Championships and the HSBC World Match Play in October. GLD were the official event furniture suppliers providing hospitality, site and catering furniture for both golfing championships.
Dunhill, one of the most prestigious titles in golf with an international field, was played over the Old Course at St Andrews and the courses at Carnoustie and Kingsbarns between 4 -7th October.
GLD supplied furniture to 99 portacabins, tents and pavilions across the 3 venues, including 134 wooden desks, 122 leather dining chairs, 170 conference chairs, 88 sofas, 60 quality wooden dining tables, 40 garden table sets, 26 wooden benches, 183 trestles and 81 utility tables.
All the furniture was transported to and from Scotland from our Somerset base in 5 artic trucks. Logistically, the Dunhill Links overlapped with the build for HSBC World Match Play, which took place at Wentworth between 11 - 14th October, so we had to co-ordinate a tight operational schedule with 2 teams overseeing the loading in and out at both championships over the course of several weeks.
At Wentworth, the world class golfing event, now in its 43rd year saw Ernie Els take the winning shot over the West Course to claim his 7th World Match Play title.
GLD supplied the event with furniture for 41 portacabins, tents and pavilions, including 34 wooden desks, 554 leather dining chairs, 94 quality wooden dining tables, 80 sofas, 11 bars, 211 bar stools, 199 utility tables, 82 trestles, 80 garden table sets and 20 benches.
Following the success of these events, GLD have been taken on by IMG as official suppliers to next year’s championships.
